The consultant requested a double slot for the next appointment of a patient who stammers. However, this did not happen.

A patient who stammers had a positive experience with an NHS hospital consultant. The consultant really listened as the patient explained about her stammer and what was helpful for her. The consultant suggested that she (the consultant) add a note to the patient’s record that the latter should have a double appointment in future, so that she could say all she wanted to.

The consultant’s letter included this request. Even so, it was not acted on. The patient’s next appointment turned out to be the usual length.
